East Renfrewshire Council Cabinet approves Brighter Barrhead Masterplan
We are proud to share that the Brighter Barrhead Masterplan, including a detailed action plan, has been officially approved by East Renfrewshire Council’s Cabinet. This is a significant moment for Barrhead and one that KMA have been excited to help shape alongside our client, partners and the wider community.
The Brighter Barrhead Masterplan
The Cabinet have also approved the formation of the Barrhead Regeneration Board, which will lead on delivering the Brighter Barrhead vision and ensuring momentum continues to build. This is an exciting next chapter and an important part of turning the Masterplan into reality.
For over a year and a half, KMA have worked in-person with approximately 900 stakeholders, school children, and community members who live or work in Barrhead to develop the masterplan. In addition, about 2,200 interactions with the project online. These important contributions have helped shape how this masterplan scopes and co-ordinates activity and development within the town over the next 25 years.
The feedback from elected members at the Cabinet meeting was incredibly positive, and we were delighted to hear the work of the KMA led team, which includes JJBLU, Nicol Urban Design, WMUD, Yellowbook, and Armour, recognised during the meeting.
We are excited to see Barrhead continue to grow and change in the months and years ahead. This is just the beginning. There is real momentum now and we encourage everyone to keep a close eye on what’s coming next.
The Cabinet meeting can be viewed on the East Renfrewshire Council YouTube channel, where the discussion and comments on the project are well worth a listen.
Thank you again to all contributors to the Brighter Barrhead Masterplan. We are proud to have worked with you and can’t wait to see what’s in store for Barrhead.
