Kevin Murray
Kevin Murray is a leading urban planner and independent facilitator, with over 20 years experience in the fields of planning, regeneration, urban design and economic development. He has worked in local government and has also been a director of two multi-disciplinary consultancies, EDAW and Tibbalds Monro.
He is a Past President of the Royal Town Planning Institute and was a founding member of the Urban Design Alliance. A strong believer in the broad philosophy of placemaking and management, he co-authored the RTPI’s agenda setting New Vision for Planning, and was a member of the Egan Task Group on Delivering Sustainable Communities.
He has given evidence on urban planning and townscape matters to committees in both UK Houses of Parliament, and lectured on planning, design and community regeneration around the world.
He has also made television and radio contributions on planning and urban futures in the UK and also overseas.
He is Honorary Professor of Planning at Aberdeen University, a Member of the Yorkshire Forward Urban Renaissance Panel and was listed as one of the top ten UK planners in the Independent on Sunday.
Kevin has a particular interest in helping towns, cities and their respective communities to address change and uncertainty in the dynamic post-industrial world and has devised a place momentum approach to address this. He advises the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister on the National Centre for Skills in Sustainable Communities. |
