Established in 2002, the practice draws from over 20 years’ direct experience in leading edge projects in town planning, regeneration, urban design and economic development. Place-based projects are rooted in the context of the specific environment – in time, as well as space. Different towns and cities have evolved over different economic and cultural cycles – we need to view them as dynamic organic habitats. We need to understand, accept and creatively guide change.

Process oriented advice involves imaginative techniques to help build client and community capacity around strategies for positive action. Workshops, scenario planning and design charrettes all form part of the KMA professional toolkit in helping clients to deliver.

The key is to recognise that people enter processes from different starting points and backgrounds. We need to respect and work with these differences, on order to be able to move forward.
